Adding 29-inch wheels to the ever-popular Fuel EX just adds fuel to the fire. Trek's Fuel EX 9 29 is done right with an Alpha aluminum frame and confidence-inspiring G2 geometry. Frame stiffness translates into better handling, so you're equipped with an E2 head tube and a 142x12mm through axle rear end. For suspension, Fox and Trek teamed up to create an awesome 120mm Float fork and Float RE:aktiv shock. The squish is translated through Trek's ABP and Full Floater rear end that keeps your rear wheel tracking over chunder, even during hard braking. The trail-focused build includes X1 gearing, XT discs, a Reverb Stealth dropper post, and tough, tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels. Pay attention, the fire's getting hot.

I ride mostly trails with rocks, roots, ruts, loose mud, ups, downs, tight turns and this bike loves it. I have not encountered anything in my rides that this bike doesn't handle with ease. Bought it slightly used from a guy who bought it from Cycle World and absolutely love this bike. Excellent bike right out of the box.
I have owned the last 3 generations of the EX9, all 26" wheels, and thought that was the way it was meant to be. Trek proved me wrong when they released this bike. It just plain does things better than the 26" versions did, flow, traction, climbing, hammering. It's just better. If I could only afford the carbon.
