We fit two in rear seat area of Cessna 172. While steel, not aluminum, weight is acceptable after factoring design simplicity, comfortable saddle, upright handle bar orientation, and adult gearing. Easy to unfold.
I had always wanted a folding bike, if not just for the convenience of having it stashed in my car for a myriad of reasons from camping, visits to parks or emergencies. I looked at all the offerings on-line from the high-end expensive folding trail bikes down to the cheapos and read all the reviews. All I wanted was a simple bike to unfold and go. I had pretty much settled on getting a Dahon since they've been manufacturing them for a couple decades now and figured they had run all the bugs out. To my surprise, the Dahon Boardwalk is a ruggedly solid bike that I have now put many miles on. This is my only bike and it is such a pleasure to have it stowed in the car for an excursion on a whim. It's not bad, either, on an easy trail. My only complaint is the rear hub sprocket is a bit high gearing (small) so I've ordered a bigger so it'll be a little easier on a grade.
